World Book Day: TBR Cart Craft

World Book Day is coming up on the 23rd, so I thought I might as well do a bookish craft for today!

Here is perhaps one of the easiest crafts ever! It's a To Be Read cart! I bought this cart at Michaels during a sales event, so it was only about $20. I also have one in rose gold, which matches the theme of my library.

As you can see, my library theme is marble with rose gold. When I bought this cart, there was no rose gold cart, so I compromised by painting these cute letters in my theme colors. Making marble letters was actually much easier than I thought, so let's get started!

Materials

  • 1 cart (almost any homegoods/craft store sells these)

  • Letters (they're $1 each at Michaels)

  • Paint (I used acrylic)

  • Adhesive (to put the letters on)

Steps

  1. Build the cart. This one from Michaels was so easy - I didn't even need any screws or tools to do it! It was about a 10 minute (if that) project.

  2. Paint the letters how you want them. I watched a simple YouTube video to learn the marble technique. It just involves some water and repainting to get the exact look you want.

  3. Tape or glue the letters onto your cart. I used double-sided, damage-free hanging tape so that I could remove the letters if I changed my mind later.

And just like that, you're done! This cart holds about 40-50 books, which is great for keeping myself organized. I couldn't be happier :)
