To Be Read Jar

If you're like me, then you have a TBR list that's a mile long. If you're like me, you also get intimidated by this list and have trouble choosing a book because there's too many! Well, after too many indecisive days, I decided to change that. Behold my TBR Jar of Stars:

There's two ways this jar can be used. One way is that each star can have the title and author inside, so you unfold whatever you pick and that's what you read. The other way is the way I chose to do it. Each star simply has a number on the outside and then in my Notepad on my computer, I have a list of all my TBR books (which is well into the thousands by now...). I delete a book after reading it, so the numbers are never the same and the stars can be reused. For me, this just made more sense because then I didn't "waste" the stars each time I read a book!

So, here's what you'll need:

Materials:

  • Letter Stickers

  • Origami Lucky Stars (you can make them or buy in bulk on Etsy, which is what I did!)

  • A pen

  • Washi Tape

  • Decorative Flowers

  • Hot Glue

Steps:

  1. Put your letters on the jar wherever you would like them to be.

  2. Once the letters are on, surround them by washi tape until you're pleased with the design

  3. For the lid, I put washi tape around the brim to give it a look I wanted, then I hot glued the flowers onto the top.

  4. Put a number on each lucky star and then mix them up before throwing them into the jar.

And just like that, you're done! It probably took me less than 30 minutes total, and the numbering is what really took me the longest. I love not only the look, but how this helps me when I'm feeling indecisive! Not to mention, doing it this way was way cheaper than buying an actual TBR jar.
