4/5 Death Curses

When Charli decides to go back home, she doesn't expect the whirlwind she receives. Returned only for a day, Charli finds her uncle dead and herself hexed with a death curse. As the clock is ticking, Charli must interrogate the various creatures in town to find out who killed her uncle. All while juggling an ex fiance, a hot handyman, and a sexy detective. Can Charli beat the clock and stay sane?
Moonshine and Magic is a book I bought for the ultimate Halloween cheese factor, and I was not disappointed! It sort of reminded me of a silly, less historical A Discovery of Witches. I'll admit, it did take a while for me to get into the story, but once I was invested, I was hooked. I feel in love with Charli, Dash, and Mason. The love triangle was a nice touch, and makes it tempting to read the rest of the series.
The mystery and action was perfectly balanced out. The book was written in such a way that I truly felt like I was in some mythical Southern town. I could practically taste Charli's grandma's cooking and the sweet honeysuckle tea that was constantly mentioned. I must say, I was overall pleasantly surprised and I would recommend this book to anyone who wants an escape from life for a few relaxing hours.
