5/5 🪄
It's no secret that I'm a huge Harry Potter fan! I've reread the books a few time and actually tried to reread them again over the summer; however, I only made it to the third one. I struggle to reread books when I have so many others that I'd like to experience for the first time. But then, I got the illustrated Harry Potters for Christmas, and it makes me feel like I'm reading a new book! So now, I'm rereading the series without any of the guilt.
Let me tell you, the images make these books worth the hefty price tags. They are beautifully done and capture the story brilliantly. I am in love with them! They create a whole new story in a way, and as the books become darker and more complex, I can't wait to see how the artwork also progresses.
Rereading Harry Potter (despite the disappointing and horrendous remarks made by the author) provides me a sense of calm. It allows me to delve into nostalgia when needed, and I find it necessary at times. The first time I reread one of the books was after my dog suddenly died. The second time was during our second lockdown, and now I'm reading them again as I go through the doses of the coronavirus vaccine (side note: I'm so sorry to anyone who had/has Covid because my reaction to the vaccine alone has not been fun, so I can't imagine the illness. We'll get through this ❤️). It's a safe book and it's shown me why rereading can be beneficial. How a book can truly provide a safe space.
My only complaint is how awkwardly giant these books are. There's really no other way to read them except at a table. It's a small complaint for how absolutely wonderful these books are! If you haven't read them, and want to reread the series, I highly, highly recommend these!
