It's National Apple Pie Day! You know who would really love this day? Bitty! Check Please was actually one of the first graphic novels I truly read and appreciated (thanks YA Literature class), and it started me on a path of reading graphic novels to cleanse my pallet and reboot my reading motivation. It was also one of the first LGBTQ books I read that didn't revolve around a tumultuous coming out story. This graphic novel opened me up to a whole new genre (hello, Red, White, and Royal Blue). Anyway, let's get to the review

Both books follow Bitty throughout his college career. Part 1 is his Freshman and Sophomore year, and part two is the last two years. The novels not only follow Bitty through a budding romance, but also through intense hockey seasons, baking, and his own vlog. In these hilarious novels, you learn to love Bitty and all those in his life.

Part 1 was very enjoyable for me! I love how Bitty stays true to himself and faces the normal fears every college freshman has. I love that he vlogs about his life, so we as readers feel as though we're watching his YouTube channel, as well. I liked that Bitty faced a coming out story in a way, but it wasn't his whole identity. Most of all, however, I loved the romance! This is a warm-hearted read and perfect for a snowy day and sugar-scented candle!
