This is most definitely a trying time. I understand it, I do, but I feel a lot of people are using it as an excuse to be 100% negative. So, I wanted to take this time to post two things I'm incredibly thankful for right now: books and "free" time. I am one of those people who has a problem of buying books faster than I can read them... a lot faster. I buy books I've never heard of just because they're on sale for $1. This can lead to great finds or serious disappointment in the publishing industry.

Then, when grad school classes picked up, I bought books as a calming strategy with absolutely no time to read them. Not to mention, I subscribe to three monthly book boxes. Needless to say, I had over 100 unread physical books (which is nothing considering I have 2,000 on my to be read list).

After two months of lockdown, I have narrowed down my books to 60 unread! I'm very excited about it. I'm almost completely caught up on my Book of the Month books, and my other subscription piles are swindling down. I will admit, the lockdown and my love of independent bookstores has caused me to buy some more books even though I said I wouldn't, but that's besides the point! I just wanted to post something positive to show that it really is the small things that matter.

So, here is my pile of what is still left to read. Is it weird that enjoy looking at all the books I have and making piles/sorting by preference and priority? Maybe it's a sign that I'm meant to be a librarian. Either way, I'm really excited about working my way through my piles. My goal is to read all the books I own and then only buy new books at a rate at which I can read them and use the library more. We will see...

Once I am done with this huge pile (which could be soon if coronavirus lockdowns continue), I will post a super positive bookshelf reveal. I say it's super positive because I love my bookshelves and a lot of thought actually goes into the placement of each and every item <3

Sure, I sound incredibly nerdy right now, but this is just proof that you can be excited if you allow yourself to be. It's the small things. We all have a lot going on, so take the the time to focus on the good. Try to be kind. Reach out for help if you need it. It will be okay. And if you don't think it will, at least you can say that you didn't just nerd out about making a dent in your to be read book pile... that's a positive start!
